Greetings, Nighthawks!  My name is Ms. Purvis and I am the School Counselor for 6th grade.  I am a Charleston native and a West Ashley High School graduate.  After attending USC Columbia for my Undergraduate Degree in English, I attended the Citadel Military College for my Masters in Counselor Education.  This is my 12th year being a School Counselor, and my 5th year in middle school!  I am obsessed with soccer (Go Chelsea!) and I love to watch scary movies.  I also love cooking and going hiking with my mom!  I am so excited to have an awesome year with you all and I'm really looking forward to all that we will accomplish and experience together.  I can't wait to meet you - Go Nighthawks!

Hello! I am Romontria Rivers, the 7th grade school counselor for the 2026-2027 academic school year. I bring 25 years of educational experience to our team, including 15 years as a classroom teacher and 9 years in school counseling. My primary mission is to build strong, trusting relationships with students, their families, and the entire school community. I am deeply passionate about creating a trusted environment where every student and family feels safe, respected, and empowered to grow. My office is always open as a welcoming, secure space and a listening ear, ensuring our students have the consistent advocate they need to navigate middle school and thrive.

I am Brenda M. Jenkins and I am the 8th Grade School Counselor for the 2026-2027 school year.  This is my 6th year as a Middle School Counselor as well as my 6th year at Northwoods Middle School. However, this is my 31st year as a School Counselor having experience in both middle and high school.  I absolutely love working with students and I am passionate about providing my students with the tools that they will need to be successful with life. My goal is to be as impactful as I can in my students' educational development, social and emotional awareness as well as an asset to the Nighthawk Team. I hope that once my students have departed from under my guidance that they will feel as though that I have modeled honesty, integrity, and professionalism and that they know they are truly loved everyday. I am always accessible to my students, parents, and colleagues via work phone, email, face-to-face, as well as my personal phone. As the 8th Grade School Counselor, I look forward to working with my students as we plan and prepare for high school.
