Student Support

K. Ayoka Hannah, MSW, LISW-CP

Mrs. Hannah Smiling

Ms. Hannah is the School Social Worker at Northwoods Middle School in Charleston County School District. With over 20 years of experience serving children, adolescents, adults, and families, she is passionate about helping students overcome barriers that may impact their success at school and in life. Mrs. Hannah has proudly served the Northwoods community for the past five years and is fully embedded on campus, providing daily support to students, families, and staff.

At Northwoods, Mrs. Hannah leads the school's Attendance Team, facilitates small group counseling, and provides individual support for students. She works with students experiencing anxiety, depression, stress, difficulty communicating with peers, school avoidance, or those who simply need an extra layer of encouragement and support throughout the school day. She believes every student deserves to feel seen, heard, and empowered to succeed.

Mrs. Hannah also partners with families who may be facing challenges outside of school. She can assist with connecting families to community resources for clothing, food, attendance concerns, financial assistance, housing instability, and homelessness.

Families: If your child is experiencing social, emotional, behavioral, or attendance concerns, or if your family needs assistance accessing community resources, please contact Mrs. Hannah at kafayat_hannah@charlestoncountyschools.gov or reach out to your child's school counselor for additional support.
